July 2009
A new level of Rotary service awaits us at District 3850.
With great anticipation, we welcome new opportunities to serve other above self, while also looking forward to the future with hope...because the future is in good hands...yours and mine.
We are encourage by President John Kenny who put it eloquently, “Every year, the baton of Rotary leadership passes to a new class of Rotary leaders. Paul Harris passed it to his successors, and they have passed it down to us. We have the responsibility to them, and to all Rotarians, to do justice to our offices and the confidence that has been placed in us.”
As always, this is an opportune time to call for district governor nominations from Rotary clubs in District 3850. If you have someone in mind, please do not hesitate to submit his/her name.
RI President Kenny reminds us “If Rotary is to be relevant in the 21st century, it must tackle the real problems of water, Health and Hunger, Literacy. And it must strive for continuity in the years ahead, which is why your Board of Directors had adopted the Rotary International Strategic Plan with emphasis on our core values of service, fellowship, diversity, integrity and leadership.”
In the momentum set forth by our past district governor Emma Nava, I set apace the many projects and programs we have already identified to embark on this year as well as those that we need to maintain.
As we plan ahead, do remind your respective clubs about Membership and Extension Month in August and the New Generations Month this September. As leaders, we must always be steps ahead so that we can address and nip issues in the bud and be ready for anything.
Applications for Foundation scholarship awards, which should be submitted to the district sub-committee as soon as possible after August 1, 2009.
Kindly inform your club secretaries to complete the semiannual report, including dues payments.
Once again, I commend all of you for the constancy in living up to the values that Rotarians all over the world live by. May each one find satisfaction in promoting a healthier environment, a climate of hope and a sense of resilience in the wake of diverse challenges ahead.
