The case of a 12-year-old physically-challenged boy from a remote barangay in Western Visayas started it all.

Twelve years ago, the Rotary Club of Metro Kalibo stumbled on the case of Arnel Ropero of Barangay Panipiason, Madalag town in the province of Aklan. Past president Megs Lunn brought his case to the attention of her classmate, lawyer Ed Escano of their sister Rotary Club of Forbes Park (D3830) who readily facilitated the organization and registration of WALK Inc., short for “Wishes and Aid of Limbs for Kids.”

The Rotary Project WALK was initially kick-started to benefit children suffering from congenital deformities and those who lost their legs in accidents but this has since evolved to include adults who are in dire need of mobility to live a life of independence and empowerment.

“By providing limbs to the physically handicapped, we became instruments in boosting their confidence and self-worth,” PP Megs says.

The sister clubs count as their partner the Tzu Chi Foundation, Physicians for Peace Philippines, UP Philippine General Hospital, UERM, D6250 Wisconsin, USA, Walk and Works Iloilo and other well-meaning individual donors.

Help project WALK continue to live its mission of providing limbs and inspiring confidence. You may send help through: Wishes of Aid and Limbs for Kids Inc. Metro Bank CA #:631-7-631-0527-0 MBTC Ortigas Taipan Branch OR Click the donate button below to partner and donate to our cause!
