March 2023 | Governor's Message

Fellow Rotarians,

This month’s theme sheds light on a critical issue that affects millions of women and children around the world: maternal and child health.

Despite significant progress over the years, access to basic healthcare services for mothers and children remains a major challenge, particularly in vulnerable communities. This has far-reaching consequences for families, communities, and economies, as healthy mothers and children are the foundation for strong and stable societies.

This is where Rotary comes in. As an organization dedicated to making a positive impact on communities worldwide, Rotary has been at the forefront of initiatives aimed at improving maternal and child health. Through its support for the training of healthcare workers, provision of medical equipment and supplies, and promotion of community-based healthcare programs, Rotary has made a tangible difference in the lives of countless mothers and children.

I am very proud of the projects from all over the District geared towards this. We’ve awarded outstanding projects in Maternal and Child Health last Discon such as Outstanding Projects on Children's Day : Bye2 Bulate of Rotary Club of Kalibo and Pag-Ulikid of Rotary Club of Bacolod South.

Let’s continue with what we do and more since there is still much work to be done. The challenges facing maternal and child health are complex and require a multi-faceted approach. It is essential that we continue to collaborate and work together to improve access to quality healthcare services for women and children in need.

So, I urge you to join us in this important mission. Whether through volunteering your time, making a donation, or simply raising awareness about this critical issue, every action counts.

Together, we can make a difference and create a world where every mother and child has access to the care they truly deserve.
